Committees

The PTO has formed committees to work on specific tasks throughout the year. Below is a description of the PTO’s committees and contact information for committee leader(s). While some committees may only need a few members for planning purposes many of our events still require a number of volunteers to make them successful. Please feel free to contact the committee leader(s) if you are interested in helping out. Not to worry if you are unable to commit to a committee at this time, the PTO will send out notices when we need volunteers.

Book Fair: This group coordinates a book fair in the fall and spring.  The past few years the fall book fair has featured a coin collection contest deciding which teachers will get to compete in a special challenge.  In the past the winning teacher’s class has received a cupcake party.  The spring book fair is kicked off with a carnival and a movie.  There are games, prizes and food for all to enjoy.   Members of this committee help plan, set up, run and pack up the book fairs.  They may also be asked to help coordinate the teacher’s challenge and spring carnival.

Box TopsThis group coordinates contests for the students in an effort to collect the many labels available to schools for fundraising.  While the PTO only benefits directly from the Box Tops for Education, Aunt Millie’s School Spirit and Tyson A+ programs they collect many of the fundraising labels for other groups at the school.  The committee collects and counts all of the labels and then forwards them to the appropriate groups to be submitted.  Janet Pung, Judy Fleischer and Jeanette Pung complete this committee.

Kidsfest: This annual event takes place during the St. Patrick School Athletic Association’s Fall Festival in October.  Kidsfest, which is located on the second floor of the school, consists of an afternoon of games for the kids and ends with a raffle ticket drawing awarding many exciting prizes.  Committee members will help plan the event.

Luncheon: This committee coordinates at least three meals throughout the year for our school staff. This includes a meal during parent/teacher conferences in the fall, a Christmas luncheon, and the Teacher Appreciation Week luncheon.

Public Relations: In addition to getting the word out about the PTO this group helps our newer families get acquainted with other St. Patrick families.  Committee members will help plan events, such as the Open House and Tailgate, to help recruit new members and get the word out about the PTO.

Teacher/Principal AppreciationThe PTO realizes how valuable our principals and teachers are to our school community. This committee plans events and surprises for our principals and teachers.   Principal Appreciation Day is the Thursday before Thanksgiving and Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week in May.

Used Uniform Sales This committee collects, organizes and resells gently used uniforms.  The PTO has a number of uniforms sales throughout the year and will accept donations at the school office.  Members of the committee may be asked to help inventory uniforms, and coordinate the sales.

Wish List: Wish lists are obtained from all of the teachers for items they would like for their class rooms.  The lists are then distributed to the classroom reps, and other volunteers, who will shop for the items on the list.  Each year we try to surprise the teachers with when they will receive their wish list items.
